Cornelia Zembrod
I paint what I see, real places, situations and figures in the context of their work or their surround-ings, as well as places that I have visited which provided me with tranquillity and gave me strength. Since 2020 I have been working with oil pastel acrylic on canvas, which provides luminosity as well as power and energy to the realistic scenes.
Over the rough acrylic sketch, I work on the subtleties of the medium using oil pastels. The motif comes out without completely covering the background, because the background should interact with the foreground in terms of colour and structure. I enjoy the picturesque handicraft, the appli-cation of oil pastels with bristle brushes and painting knives. This allows me to apply the colour to the image finely and sensitively.
My pictures show the real world, on the one hand the everyday life of the medical profession and helpers and on the other side resting areas to recover from the stressful and sometimes over-whelming world.
During the Corona period, there were many images in the media of self-sacrificing professional groups. This was so concerning to me that I included it in my paintings. Because of this, the “Help-er” series was created.
Self-employed occupational therapist and artist lives and works in the Biberach south Germany.
